Future Minds Conference

Imago’s Safe Ambassadors help shape the next generation of mental health care

On Saturday 12 May, NHS England and YoungMinds brought together 100 young people in London, aged 14-20, to get creative about the future of mental health support.  Imago took along 6 Safe Ambassadors from Medway, and one of the original Safe Volunteers delivered a workshop on stress to over 30 young people.  The feedback was excellent and the young people felt we had shared helpful tools to support them manage their stress.

Our group were really impressed with meeting Claire Murdoch the national mental health director for NHS England and Hussein Manawer, a young British poet who was chosen out of 30,000 people to be one of the first space tourist and he is dedicating his trip to mental health sufferers.  We also met some other amazing projects such as SPACE a 7 days a week service for young people.

Our Safe Ambassadors said about the day:

The speakers were inspiring and makes you want to do more and be more active, take the safe ambassador role to the next level.  We would like to look at potential opportunities to volunteer outside of school. It was interesting to see the other projects up and down the country, to see how far we have come and how far we have to go.”

“The workshops were engaging, learnt a lot and had fun along the way. I am really interested in medicine and psychology so this has inspired me to bridge the gap and look at a neuroscience career”
