Carers Week 9th-15th June 2025
We're proud to be supporting Carers Week 2025
This year's theme is Caring About Equality, and from 9th-15th June we will be joining the call for greater equality for unpaid carers.
There are 5.8 million people in the UK caring for a family member, friend or neighbour who is ill, older or disabled. 1 in 10 adults is an unpaid carer and over 1 million young people are young carers. Despite contributing an estimated £184 billion to the UK economy each year, many carers feel undervalued and unsupported.
Carers face many challenges and inequalities including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, and poor mental and physical health.
We believe that all carers should be recognised, valued and supported.
Last year, Imago supported over 17,000 carers of all ages. We support unpaid adult carers in Kent (Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Swale), the City of London and Lewisham, and young carers in Kent, East Sussex and the London boroughs of Bexley, Greenwich, Havering, Lewisham and Southwark.
Carers Week is a crucial opportunity to raise awareness, highlighting those who provide essential care to family members, friends or neighbours who need it most. Many people do not see themselves as carers, and do not get the help and support they need.
It is an opportunity to come together to celebrate carers, and recognise the important contribution carers make to some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
