Baton of Hope
Baton of Hope - Stand Up to Suicide
The Baton of Hope is the UK's largest suicide prevention initiative, spreading the message of prevention far and wide.
There is hope. If more people talk openly about mental health and suicide, spot the signs, ask the right questions, and listen without judgement, we can all make a difference.
Following a successful first tour in 2023, the Baton of Hope has been touring the UK in 2025, coming to Kent and Medway on 22nd and 23rd September.
Jo Walbank, our Children and Young People's Operations Manager, was honoured to be selected to carry the baton through Margate, on behalf of Imago, and Veterans charities.
"Taking part in the Baton of Hope Tour was more than just carrying the Baton — it was a moment to honour ‘Absent Friends’. A humbling and deeply moving privilege, the act of passing the Baton was just as powerful as holding it. It brought people together from across the country in the UK’s biggest suicide prevention initiative.
It reminded me why I joined Imago — to be part of something that makes a difference. Through our Safe Programme, delivered in schools across Kent, we’re working to reduce the stigma around mental health and encourage young people to reach out for support." (Jo Walbank)
