The importance of Volunteering

Our Volunteer Coordinator Louise, visited Maidstone Job Centre to speak to around 40 of their coaches about the value of volunteering and he role it can play in helping people move closer to employment.
Volunteering is often underestimated, but it can be a powerful addition to a CV. It gives people current, relevant experience, builds confidence and demonstrates commitment, reliability and transferable skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. For many, it also helps address gaps in employment and provides recent references - all things employers consistently look for.
It was encouraging to see such strong engagement from the job coaches, I spent some time speaking to individual job coaches about specific client needs and plan to return again in the near future.
