Tonbridge Lions donate £350 for Young Carers
Tonbridge Lions provide funding for stationary kits for Tonbridge Young Carers!
Starting secondary school can feel overwhelming for any child — but for young carers already balancing school with caring responsibilities at home, even buying basic stationery can become another source of stress.
Thanks to a £350 donation from Tonbridge Lions, young carers across Tonbridge will receive essential stationery kits ahead of their move to Year 7 in September 2026.
During 2024/25, our Young Carers Service supported more than 12,900 children and young people aged 5–18 who care for a family member affected by illness, disability, mental health challenges or substance misuse. In Tonbridge alone, we supported 1,191 young carers last year. Many of the families we support face significant financial hardship and struggle to afford basic school equipment.
Starting secondary school is a huge milestone, and many young carers worry about fitting in or not having the things they need. These kits will help them feel confident and ready for their first day.

Each stationary pack will include essential items such as pens, pencils, a ruler, rubber and protractor, along with a notepad and pencil case, ensuring that young carers start life in Secondary school feeling prepared and confident.
Thank you to Phil Jesson, Tonbridge Lions President, Richard Hill and all at Tonbridge Lions for this generous donation!
