If you find it difficult to use public transport and taxis to access medical or social appointments such as hospitals, day centres, surgeries, opticians and shopping, then Dial 2 Drive can help.
Our friendly drivers are volunteers. They use their own cars and give up their time to support the local community. You will have the reassurance of a named, reliable driver (insured and DBS checked) who can safely and efficiently take you to your appointment and return you to your home.

There is an annual membership fee of £25 to help cover administration costs.
We charge you 80p per mile, which is measured from the driver’s home to yours, then on to where you want to go and back to the driver’s home.
We will always try to find a driver who lives closest to you to keep the costs as low as possible.

Volunteer drivers are only expected to wait up to an hour. If your appointment is much longer, you will need to book two separate drives (double journey).

Please give us as much notice as possible when booking a drive - at least a week. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but please note it is based on our volunteer driver availability so we can not guarantee a driver will be available.
Medical appointments and day care visits are prioritised over social drive and errands. If you get a medical appointment with short notice we will do our best to find you a driver.
If you need to cancel a drive please give us 24 hours notice, so we can let the volunteer know or give the slot to someone else.
Yes! We are always on the lookout for more drivers to join our friendly team and help us support more people through the scheme. If you are qualified to drive, have your own reliable car, are sociable and can offer a few hours each week or month, we’d love to hear from you. Our volunteers find it a very rewarding role and it can be flexible to suit your other commitments. Click here to find out more.
