Support for Charities & Community Groups

Imago offers information, advice and development opportunities in a wide range of areas

Thanks to funding from KCC via the Kent Community Foundation we are able to offer support to community groups and charities operating in the Kent Districts of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge & Malling, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Ashford and Folkestone & Hythe.

Our support includes:

Bi-monthly networking sessions

These are open to any local VCSE operating in the district. The agenda and topics of these networking sessions will be driven by those taking part, but they may include opportunities for:

  • sharing experiences, ideas and practices
  • hearing from appropriate external experts or others with experience
  • establising partnerships with other VCSEs
  • identifying new opportunities for funding and income generation
  • discussing issues of governance, management, volunteer management, internal conflict etc
  • bringing together VCSEs working on similar issues or with similar clients
  • providing 'buddying' relationships between participants
  • identifying new, external, local and national developments which may impact on VCSEs
  • sharing advice and information on other networks, training opportunities, useful resources
  • providing an active group of VCSEs able to be consulted by local authorities, sector bodies etc.

Key discussion points and outcomes of each networking session will be recorded and disseminated to those unable to attend.

Future dates of these sessions are:

Thursday 16th May - 10am to 11:30am

Thursday 18th July - 10am to 11:30am

Thursday 19th September - 10am to 11:30am

  • undertaking risk asessments and managing risk
  • looking at organisational, leadership and governance skills

Training Sessions

Specific topics and issues may emerge from the networking sessions and tailored support. Training can be arranged accordingly. These sessions could include:

  • developing effective partnerships
  • applying for funding
  • working with commissioners, local authorities, and the NHS
  • safeguarding across the organisation
  • using social media
  • developing services for specific beneficiaries or to address specific issues
