Counselling Service

72% of Carers say they have suffered mental ill health, such as stress or depression, as a result of their caring role

(State of Caring 2018 – Carers Trust)

Life can be difficult at the best of times, and while a caring role can be rewarding, it can become normal for Carers to put the needs of others before their own. Imago’s Counselling Service is an opportunity for Carers to explore their own needs and feelings in a confidential space. The service is accessible and affordable for Carers over 16 years old. The service is currently available in Ashford, Shepway and Swale and is being developed across Kent.

Counselling is carried out by qualified Counsellors and trainee Counsellors completing their final year of training. All Counsellors are affiliated to professional bodies, adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Guidelines and undergo regular clinical supervision.

Counselling may be helpful if you experience any of the following:

  • Stress or anxiety
  • Feelings of low mood or depression
  • Difficulties in relationships
  • Changes and transitions in life, such as new starts, retirement, advancements in your caring role
