Imago attends the All-Party Parliamentary Group

On the 10th July, two of the Imago team attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs in the Houses of Parliament and spoke about Young Carers.

"We had the privilege of attending yesterday evening’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Youth Affairs in the Houses of Parliament. We heard many young people speak about the various challenges they face when seeking out and accessing Work Experience, Further Education and entering the world of work to help form part of the governments ongoing inquiry and report into issues that affect young people including mental health and wellbeing.
While the report sets out to include and hear the voice of all young people, I felt it important to stand and highlight the challenges faced by Young Carers, many of which either do not achieve their full potential in education, feel they're unable to commit to apprenticeships or employment due to their unpredictable caring role or feel they can't or should not have future aspirations due to their caring role. We need to empower, guide and support our Young Carers to access the same opportunities and life experiences as their peers.
We look forward to our future involvement with the APPG on this matter."
